The Tax Bracket:

Auto Expenses
- Andrew McMillan

Quick Tech Tip:

Example: We want to prevent any modifications to our spreadsheet. So we're going to make this workbook read-only (Win 98/Win ME/Won 2000).

  1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button.

  2. Select Programs - Windows Explorer. (Or Programs - Accessories - Windows Explorer.)

  3. Navigate to the folder containing your file.

  4. Click on the filename. Then choose File - Properties. (Or, right click the file name and choose Properties.)

  5. Select the General tab.

  6. Enable the Read-only attribute, and click OK.

  7. When this workbook is opened in Excel, Read-only will appear in the title bar. If the user attempts to save any changes, a warning will appear.
The File - Save As command can be used to save changes using a different name, or with the same name but in a different folder.
    NOTE:
To avoid confusion or possible error messages, do not have the workbook open when selecting or de-selecting the Read-only option.
